Now, I made a little whoopsy with my Kubicki, and clipped the E string a little too short when I was having trouble getting it into tuning range...now I can only get it to D# before he tuner can turn no more...

And so I'm gonna take it to the bass workshop in town, for a "hands on" course in stringing the bugger. I'll be going to buy some new strings before I go there so I'll have something to replace the old ones with. I'm looking for some strigns without silk wrapping, as it looks unsightly at the bridge. I've been using Rotosounds for all my time with the Kubicki, and I'm looking for something a little different.

So, what strings without silk wrapping are good? All I can think of is Elites, and they wern't overly great...so hit me fellow TB'ers!

  2. How about Ernie Ball? They cost about the same. I like them.

  3. I was going to suggest elites, but, nm eh :p

Rotosounds obvoiusly . . . erm, i have a packet or Trace Elliot BLX strings i got off ebay (stainless steel), that have no silk wrappings either, however, i thought trace strings always had green wrappings, so im not too sure if they are actually TE's i have

DR makes a good string, and they don't have silk wrappings. At least the ones I used to use didn't.

    Thanks for the help guys!

I managed to fix the problem by cutting the string shorter...and I'm kinda pleased with that. I'll heed what I have read here in future though. Thanks!
