don't know how many of you guys have heard, but strom passed away...a sad day for south carolinians such as myself. i've met him on more than several occasions, and he was a charismatic man, even in his old age. this is his 100th year, and he has held in office in the us senate longer than anyone else ever has. i posted a link from msnbc you guys can check out. it's not my intention to make this a political thread, so please don't.

    Good.

If strom would have been elected president all these years ago, we wouldn't have all these problems we have today.

You know like black people drinking out of OUR water fountains and riding in the front of the bus.

Well, Hitler is dead now... I guess we should get over what he did.

Know what... I'm done. I'm sorry about everything I've said. I'm going to stop just so this thread can stay open because it wasn't suppose to turn into a political discussion. Sorry.

For a post with this disclaimer on it, it got fairly political in a hurry - It'll probably closed before I hit submit...

Neptoon, I'm sorry to hear that a man you admired has passed away.

You know, even though I might not agree with many of his positions past and present, he was still a very well respected man and a pillar of political experience. And most importantly, he was respected on both sides of the aisle, by Democrat and Republican alike. He will be missed.

Was he respected on BOTH sides of the color line? Please forgive me if I don't shed a tear for your hero.

If he had his way, this would be "massa's" computer, instead of mine.

    Yeouch. Tough stuff.

Once I did a little research on him a while ago...bleh...I wasn't exactly happy with the results.

It's strange how people who try and do oodles for civil rights die quickly, but those who oppose a coming together (or whatever you'd call it) live forever. Even if they do change their views.

It's apparent that some of you people don't know what you are talking about. Strom Thurmond was a good man. RIP.
