    Hello all, I'm new here,

I'm going to buy a Strunal double bass in a few weeks, it's going to be either a 5/20 or a 5/5. What I have to decide is what finish I want, the normal one (is it laquer?) or this "brushed and washed" finish they indicate with WE. Has anyone had a chance to compare the two?

    Thanks in advance.

Normal is shinny and "WE" is the washed finish. IMO, the washed looks a lot better and more like a higher end bass.

Play before you buy and good luck . . .

I'd take the Strunal with the finish that costs less, and use that money for the setup and/or any lessons you can get.

Thanks a lot for the info and the welcome!

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I suppose I'll choose the WE finish if available.

    Good advice Johnny,
but the price difference is just 100 dollars, so it's not a problem.
