Studio monitors close to computer-bad?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by fleabee, Apr 20, 2009.

  1. Will there be a problem if you put studio monitors too close to a Mac laptop due to the speak magnets?
  2. Nevermind....found the answer-its harmless unless the magnet is insanely strong like an MRI

Well, it doesn' have to be *quite* as strong as an MRI... Any unshielded magnet structure in proximity to a CRT or plasma monitor can effect the color balance of that display. The reason it's not such a big issue these days is A) most computer displays are LCDs, which are much less susceptible to magnetic distortion than plasma or CRT; and B) many studio monitors are shielded.
