studying song structure?

Discussion in 'General Instruction [BG]' started by Every1TookMyName, Dec 18, 2001.

  1. I'm taking up the guitar (going alot better then I thought) and I'm seriously considering learning piano to have more tools at my disposal (sic?) for songwriting.

Anyways, are there any books I could check into, or should I just continue to study the music I'm interested in making?

    Thanks for the help

I have a book called "Songwriting and the Creative Process" by Steve Gillette. I think I bought it off musiciansfriend.com. There's sections on songwriting mechanics, song structure, and more. It's a pretty good book. :)

    Good luck!
