  1. my dad just gave me his old Rat Shack mixer, and i know that it's the unit it's self, but when i turn up the volume up, the static over powers the instrument. any tips on how to cut down on the static while keeping the instrument level the same?

To start, throw it away. Then buy a mixer.

  5. Munji, don't you think i've already tried that? my dad would blow a perminent fuse if i threw it away. I suggested the portable Bheringer mixers for my dad (the model that operates on batteries) but he said no. because he doesn't wanna spend that much money on me (though he doesn't say it). So in my mind, i'm thinking "lemme get this straight. my dad blew 500 bucks on compressor, that he doesn't even SEEM to use, but he won't spend 200 on a decent mixer for me."
