style defining recordings

    What CDs would you consider the absolute, must own recordings for the bassist wanting to take a tour of the following musical styles:

    Blues
    Reggae
    Funk
    Latin
    Swing
    Jazz

    I know those categories aren't very specific. I prefer recordings using electric bass rather than upright.

    Blues - B.B. King's Live at the Regal
    Reggae - Bob Marley's Exodus
    Funk - Any early James Brown or Sly Stone records
    Latin - can't help ya there
    Swing - ditto
    Jazz - Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, possibly Coltrane's Giant Steps
