Subbing with a Big Time Pro

Discussion in 'General Instruction [BG]' started by fat-bottom, Jun 1, 2002.

  1. I recently played with a fantastic pro drummer who subbed with the group I played with. I felt somewhat uncomfortable because I knew he's seen all as far as bassists are concerned. I finally calmed down and did what I do. The gig was a success.

Any thoughts on playing with people better that you?

I think if you're playing with people who are much better than you (I've done that million times..) you should just relax, and don't try to show off.
I don't show off (maybe because I can't..) but I can't relax! Last time I played I was nervous in the soundtest because they told me to play "something" and I had to slap. The only thing I thought of was a country bassline..
