subharmonics synthesizer ?

  1. ok.. i need to know all there is to know about this effect.. some buy told me that it makes your bass sound BIGGG !!!!

    which is ofcourse very cool..

    so.. 'sup with this stuff ?

    Aphex 204 perhaps? Heard good things about them.

    Subharmonic synths can make your bass sound huge, but they add a waveform one octave lower than the already-low notes you're playing. This can result in extreme woofer excursion, so you'd better make sure you have the rig to handle this.

    I suggest you try an Aphex 204 enhancer. The "Big Bottom" feature can also make your bass sound huge... but unlike a subharmonic synth, it does so with little or no increase in peak energy. I'm gonna post a review update shortly. OTOH, the Aphex doesn't sound like an effect except when used to the extreme, so if you desire that Pino Palladino thing it won't appeal to you.


    P.S. Big Bottom is the Aphex term, not mine... sounds very Spinal Tappish but it's a good description!
