I'm having a new home being built. The living room/dinning/kitchen is all one big room with a vaulted ceiling measuring 20X36, walls 10 ft. and vaulted ceiling peak goes up to 20ft. I picked up a pair of new Alto TS208s cheap to use for sound in the room for TV, music and even performances (acoustic), and I am looking for a subwoofer that wont break the bank. I was hoping to find the corresponding sub for the TS208 but the 12" is sold out (Alto TS2 is a discontinued line). So far I was hoping to keep the cost of the sub at around $300 and the two I've been eyeing are the Alto TX212s and the Behringer EUROLIVE B1200D-PRO 12". Recommendations appreciated and I am not opposed to buying used.

  2. I've got some TS308s on the way to use in my new music/media room with my projector and as foldback for rehearsals. They will be wall/ceiling mounted. when cash permits I was think the B1200D also.

Subbed, Let me know what you decide?

Are you going to use the Alto brackets to mount yours?

Yes, am going to use the Alto TS small wall brackets to mount mine. I found one for $70 from B&H Photo and another for $80 off of ebay, rather than paying the usual $100 for the Alto bracket. I'm actually leaning towards TX212s for a sub. I would have liked to use the 308s but I got the 208s for about $150 each, and felt I couldn't pass up that deal. That's US dollars btw...

build a sub into the wall...home hifi installers have been doing that for like ages... chambered box that fits between and flush with the studs, sized and ported correctly for a sub driver. crossover and amp to drive it and you're done with little clutter...

I would get with a local installer or have a look at DIYAudio.com. I've seen them built into wall and also floors...

  8. Got my TS308s mounted up in the last week. Didn't use brackets, I used eyebolts in the flypoints molded into the boxes. These little boxes sound far better than I expected! I'm beyond pleased.

Ended up getting a Beh'r 1200D Pro sub to use also as there are so many more reviews to read, and there was one available locally. Very happy with my purchase and the end result.
