I'm looking for some nice overdrive for the front end of an Ampeg SVT-4Pro. The tone I'm looking for is what you here in the Queens Of The Stone Age song "Know One Knows". Anyone out there got one they like?
Clean bass doesnt work well in all situations, i know OD compliments punk and hardcore very well I use a tech21 sansamp BDDI, which is also very nice
I agree Sgt. Pepper, but I'm planning on using it for two specific songs we do, as an effect, just to add some color. I really don't usually use any bass effects, although I've heard some really great bassists that do, and it sounds great.
I stongly disagree about not cutting through as well with OD. Many people abuse it and do not cut through.....you are right there but, I use a gritty sound 95% of the time and I always cut through. (rock, blues, pop, metal) I use the voodoo labs sparkle overdrive and a few times that I didn't, I just couldn't cut through as well and lost alot of sustain and harmonics. When I play with the band, you can't always tell that my sound is gritty.....until I am by myself. It definitly fills everything out and you notice when it's not there. Viva la OD!!!
Keeley Fuzz Head...it's a guitar pedal but it's transparent, doesn't chop off the low end and is beautifully gritty.
