suggestions for farewell show

Discussion in 'Band Management [BG]' started by Peter Squire, Mar 1, 2006.

  1. Hey guys

So, as I posted in another thread, our band is winding up in April.

We have a strong followiing and have booked our farewell show at our most popular venue. We have already had indications that we will pack the place out, so its going to be a wild party!!

Just wondering if anyone here has any hints or tips on how to make the show truly memorable. We will be playiing all our most popular songs etc.

  2. we're hoping to record the show on minidisc and then make some CD's to send out to our mailing list as souvenirs.

we're going to make a photo board and ask our faithful to sign it with a message for our singer/guitarist (who's the one leaving town)

any other thoughts you can come up with?
  3. How about having audience members join you on stage during a few numbers (assuming they know the material)? That would make it even more memorable for them and they'd definitely want a copy of the video.

Or hire Martin Scorcese to make a film out of it. You could call it "The Last Waltzing Matilda":D

I would vote against using pyrotechnics to set the stage on fire...

That having been said, consider some crazy gimmicks - some acts around here have ridden around on scooters on stage, had puppet shows in the middle of sets, wore crazy costumes...

Of course, you'll probably do well just to do what's made your band work - play music. Of course, if there's anything that you've ever wanted to do (crowd surf, run around with wireless guitar and wireless headset mic, etc), now's the time. Pull out all the stops, baby, and have a great show!
