suggestions for replacement pickups?

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Ulyanov, Apr 16, 2001.

  1. Hey
I play a Yamaha RBX260F with stock pickups, and I'm thinking about installing some new pickups. It has one p style pickup, in the neck position. I want to change that, and maybe install a j style pickup in the bridge position, is that possible? How would I go about doing that? If anyone has any information on how to do this and some names, that would be great.

    Further information, if needed, is:
    It's fretless
    I have TI Jazz Flats
I play things like Rush, The Police, U2, Primus, (yeah, I realize that none of those sounds like my current setup. I like it anyway)

    Thanks in advance.
  2. I used Bartolini 8s. They sound so much better!

The sound is much cleaner, and more defined

They don't sound harsh (the stock ones, in my opinion do)

    The sound warmer

    I highly recomend them.

    Two minor complaints:

They pick up a good deal of fretbuzz (more than the stock ones.)

Also, the attatched documentation is rather poor.

The braided silver wire goes on the underside of the pot, and the copper cable goes to the thingy sticking out of the other pot. (gave me some trouble)
