my buddy is working with the folks putting this show on in berkeley. thought some of you might be into it. Get ready to tap your toes and wiggle. 'Cause Walt Strony is coming to town to play a solo virtuoso concert of light classics, historical pop, jazz, and movie music at Berkeley Community Theater. He'll be playing the NorCal unit orchestra, consisting of 35 tons of musical hardware, meticulously restored and maintained by a staff of dedicated volunteers over the last 20 years. Those of you who were on the tour on 4/24 know this is no exaggeration. All acoustic, not a single loudspeaker or amp anywhere in it -- and doesn't need any! This may be your last chance for a while. Plans are in the works for some remodeling at the theater so who knows if we'll have a 2004-05 season? Here's the plan: On May 9 (sunday) we'll meet for lunch at Long Life Veggie House at 1pm @ 2129 University Ave. Veggie lunch plates are under $5 w/plentiful food, seafood lunch plates also available for more $$ Once everyone is well-fed we'll stroll down to BCT for the concert at 2:30pm. We'll get our tickets ($12) and I will show you the best seats in the theater. Then get ready for 2+ hours of pure entertainment -- all played from memory. If you've been to other professional concerts you know $12 for an afternoon of great live music is a bargain.
