Im stripping down my Sunn Mustang, found another thread on this forum did the same thing back in 2009. The more I strip this back the more confused I get. Under the thick white paint is a solid 3 piece with a 2 piece veneer. The solid wood has a very dark grain, but why veneer something getting painted? I was going to repaint this, reckon I might keep it bare?

I had that with an MIM Jazz Bass.

I would hazard a guess to say they were both destined to have a sunburst finish and had a flaw and so were thrown into the solid colour pile!
