Does it exsist? I was listening to Gwar's Ragnarock album and on it is the song "Surf of Sin". I've always heard it and not thought about it, but surf and metal could go together so well. If Dick Dales stuff was distorted Drop D power chords at the speed he was playing, it would be metal. But if the rhythm section stayed surf... surf metal. So does it exsist?

I was in a surf band for about a year- I have heard the worst and the best. There is no real "Surf Metal", the reason is that you cant stray too far from a twangy reverby guitar sound. There are bands that use distortion, but they still have the whole reverb thing going. If you want to hear a rockin' space/surf band- check out Man... or Astro-Man! <-- Real name!

Another band you could check out (I have never heard them, but I bet they are semi-heavy) are the Satanic Surfers. Enjoy!
