I had a class with Homer mensch the other day and he showed me his bows with a surgical tube close to the frog where your thumb goes.
    Anyone uses that?
What do you think about it?

When I first started and was not used to holding a French bow, my thumb would get pretty sore. I used one for a while, and it helped to some extent. At the time, any help at all was welcome.

I know a bunch of professional symphony players who use them. IMHO, definately not only for beginners.

My teacher is a SO player and he uses the tubing. I have played his bow. Great bow, but I don't like the feel of the tubing.

It's a personal preference thing really. I like the feel of the wood and leather. He likes the latex. There's no right or wrong.
