I recorded a tune the other day with a friend in his project studio. I brought along my '83 Ibanez Roadstar II for the session and was surprised at how it sounded. I haven't recorded with anything but a Stingray for a while now but I'm REALLY impressed with the tone of this bass. It has stock pickups, bridge, etc...everything and I think it's even a plywood body b/c the specs call the body "laminated wood".

This bass has one of the most easy to play necks I've ever come across.

  2. The music school where I get bass lessons has a Roadstar with the P/J config and DiMarzios. Plays amazingly, sounds pretty good, and all this on an old, beaten up, played a million times, strings a couple years old bass!

I won a 1985 Roadstar II with the twin split coil humbuckers. It sounds awsome. My only beef with the bass is that currently reside in Japan and local humidity has played havoc with the neck.
