Sustain on an open E string

    I have an epiphone jack casady bass and i have noticed i loose alot of sustain in the F# and F anyone else have this expirence.
     
  2. You may have found a dead spot. When's the last time you've had your bass set up?

    Having your bass set up gets rid of dead spots? I had never heard that.

    :meh: I'd have to agree with bass mule- a good setup can do wonders sometimes. The first 3 frets on my E actually ahve some of the best sustain on my bass.

    Cool, that is good to know. I did not think that setups would help with dead spots.
     
  6. Having your bass set up does not help with dead spots. I should have made myself more clear. Sometimes areas of your neck that you might perceive to be a dead spot can be fixed with string height adjustment or a 1/4 turn of the truss rod.
    Dead spots are more of a "character" flaw on a neck.
