    Hi

My SVP-CL is back from having work done on it...

Question,,, With a Vintage passive J bass should I be able to hit the peak light on the input gain...with ease?? I'm At ten and barely a light if I hit the thing hard.

Perfectly normal. That light is not so much a clip indicator as it is an input indicator, so your best strategy is to completely ignore it and just turn the gain up to the point where it sounds good to you. If it's too dirty for you, back it down till it isn't. Use your ears and don't worry about the light.

Did it clip much easier before you had work done on it? I have another one arriving tomorrow. Shouldn't have sold my original one. I'll test as well and let you know.

Exactly right, and the clip light on mine does the same thing. It would have to be turned way up to light. Whatever sounds best though.
I'm glad I bought one again. Great preamp.
