SVP noise?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by bryan bailey, Aug 8, 2003.

  1. I have heard about about the SVP being noisy. In what sence is it noisy? Use some words to describe the noise. And in what sense is it bad for studio use. People?

I have svt pro III preamp. yeah its got a hum. I mostly turn off the eq section for quiet playing situations. changing tubes form orginal chinnese stock ones helped, also boosted tone. but still to loud a ground hum, for me, for recording. the ultra bass function has that motown bass sound low end.

99% of the time its the lousy stock tubes... change them out with some good matched tubes and you'll have one of the best tube preamps you can imagine... especially when you consider how little they cost comparitively to some others. btw this has been covered at least 40 times... great preamp though!
