SVP-Pro Starts Clipping in Low Gain... (Help me Obi-Wan, you're my only hope!)

    Hi everyone,

For versatility, I followed down the path of the preamp/poweramp which I have like five right now. Before moving back to my home country from US, I acquired a SVP-Pro for a really good deal. However, I did not have a lot of chance to play with it...

Now I have encountered a problem like this... SVP-Pro starts clipping and the sound becomes driven and progressively muddier as I dial in more and more gain and drive. I read about this in some forum (don't remember when and where) that this is a known problem but haven't encountered any solution. Since there are none authorized Ampeg repair shops here, I brought the head to a local electrical engineer specialized in amps and he did a lot of clean-up and retubed the whole thing but it still is not up to its game. This video depicts what I have encountered. For comparison I have put in clips with SVP-CL.

I posted a video on Youtube for reference ->

I would be very glad and thankful if you have encountered this problem and found a working solution for this. I really would like to use this preamp but now it stays as a huge paper weight :-(

    Thanks!!!

p.s. Sorry in advance for sloppy playing :)
