I just upgraded to a 4pro from a 3 pro. I have a 4x10HLF cab with the tweeter. I noticed more of a hiss with the 4pro. I called ampeg tech support and told them I had my tweeter set to the 12:00 Position. He suggested setting it to either 9 or 10:00. When I did this the hiss was lower but I could still hear it. Although when I turn the tweeter all the way down the hiss goes away altogether. Does anyone know why? Could it be defective or is it just the output of the tweeter is higher with the 4 pro.
Ampeg also did say because it's more powerful that there might be a little more of a hiss to it then the 3 pro.

Any ideas? Should I just keep the tweeter off? or put it back up and deal with the more of a hiss? there is more of a hiss whn I'm not playing but you can't really hear it too much while I am playing. I'm also standing less then 5 feet away from the amp while I'm playing so I can fiddle with the knobs.
    any thoughts would be apperciated!

You're not running the cab mono are you? LOL, you'll blow it up if you are. I ran two 410hlfs with my SVT4 and never had any hiss with my tweeters set midway. Sounds strange to me.

    I have a SVT-4PRO and I run it in a JBL SF-25 PA cabinet.

The tweeter has always been hissy, even when the volume was turned all the way down on the amp.

What I did is change the tweeter for a 6 inches mid-high speaker.

I still have plenty if highs and no more hiss.

  4. Tweeters hiss in my experience...I have the SVT410HLF and with my SVT3 that I had, I would get a hiss...but turning the tweeter all the way down it would disappear....same as you.

Ampeg told me it's ok to run it in mono bridge mode just don't turn it up really loud. Maybe I will just slowly turn the tweeter up to the point where it doesn't hiss. Ampeg also suggested that I turn the tweeter down all the way and just boost the trebbile

I can believe this since Ampeg has nothing to lose if you accidentally overload your cab, but my SVT4 owners manual plainly said to NOT do that. Also, I have a Bass Tips book written by Gary Willis that says to never turn a tweeter all the way down, he says it can overheat it, instead he says to turn down the treble.... exact opposite of what Ampeg told you. In fact, both things they've told you are opposite of what I've seen, heard and know to be common knowledge/practice. Strange! Good luck :).
