so i recently found one of these and im thinking hard about buying it, but i wanted to know if it has the same ohm switch that the new VR has, and if not, whats the ohm rating on it?

im hooked so hard on tubes now, i plugged my bee bass into my VR the other day thinking it wouldnt sound good for the slap/funk stuff i play from time to time, definitely sounded killer, so im debating getting rid of my LMII rig and switching to another tube head.

They don't have an impedance switch, they have two speaker jacks. Plugging one 4ohm cab into the first jack runs the amp at 4ohms, and plugging a second 4ohm cab in the extension jack runs the amp at 2ohms.

another question, which old SVTs ran on the 6146 tubes instead of the 6550s?

I believe only the 69's. JimmyM has one. I have a 71-72 with 6550's. Love it.

Mine (which I believe is a '69) originally ran 6146's, but was converted to 6550's at some point. I think that some of the SVT's made in 1970 ran 6146's.
