setting a svt classic at 4ohms, can 8ohm cab be used or would you need to run (2) 8ohm cabs?
if run into single 8 ohm cab,is this harmful to head or cab?
if its not harmful......do you lose volume?

sorry, i slept through science class when i was a kid.......worked three jobs so i could buy Fenders and Gibsons and Ampegs. :bassist:

  2. You SHOULD run two 8 ohm cabs or one 4 ohm cab. Running one 8 ohm cab will load the output tubes in a non linear area of the load curve, as a side note you will loose output power due to this. Not recommended but it is your amp, the jury is out on if any long term problems could be caused.

At low volumes it probably won't hurt anything. I've only briefly done it with mine testing out cabs at home but I've done it with rental SVT's before. But if you're looking to play at medium or more volume, forget it. Can cause early tube and transformer death.
