I know the SVT II Pro has more features, but how does it compare to the SVT CL in terms of how it sounds?

I owned an SVT II Pro and couldn't tell any difference between a friend's SVT-CL and mine at all. Also couldn't tell a lot of difference between mine and the same buddie's mid 70's SVT. I know lots of vintage freaks would say "No Way", but it's true...my friend thought so, too. And the rack-mount design of the SVT II is SOOOOOO much more convenient.

  3. Agreed,
The II pro and the Classic are the same amp for all intents and purposes, I'd agree that they sound very similar. The II pro has the graphic EQ and is in a more convenient package. If I was going to buy a new SVT, it would be the II pro. They do sound similar to the old ones, the differences are subtle but they are there :D. The biggest differences between the old and new ones are that the oldies have two channels and no master volume. There are a lot of internal differences though. I'm not necessarily a vintage freak, I just happened to see an old SVT in great shape that sounded killer so I bought it. My only bias against the new Ampeg stuff is that it's not put together as well as the old stuff was.
