I've been having lots of fun futzing with my 70's SVT now that it's working, but I had a question for my fellow Ampeg players.

Whenever I engage the Ultra Lo switch (on either channel), it does at some beef at the bottom, but it totally changes the character of the tone. It sounds very compressed, the mids are different- it sounds better using a good amount of bass boost and touch of bass from my on-board preamp.

I didn't notice this, however, on my friend's SVT Classic. It just added bass boost, and sounded pretty sweet. Mine seems to change the sound character, and it doesn't seem as loud, either.

So, my question is, is this just a quirk of the older SVT's? Does anyone else experience this?

Sweet. As long as it's not just me. Gracias. :)
