You have just scared me off of this amp. I have been looking at three: SWR SM-900; Eden WT-800; and SVT4-Pro. I really dig the massive power of that amp and the Ampeg sound reputation. It seems also that there is a lot of control over the sound of that amp. Very enticing. I have to say that the front runner is the SM-900. That is the only one I have heard. I have heard it in a local cover band and it sounds awesome every time, the way this guy has his knobs tweaked through two 4x10's. Tons of balls, clarity, killer mids, and tight response to low frequencies. Finger-style & slap. Right now I am playing through a Peavey Firebass 700, new Peavey 4x10 and old Peavey 1x15. The Firebass 700 has to be the best value power for dollar, but very weak in the tone dept. I can't even deal with it. Reliability doesn't seem to be an issue w/ SWR.
