    Here's the story:
I ordered a custom PM5 at Sandberg in late October 2007: ash body with maple neck, painted in high gloss Lake Placid Blue.
After some major delay at the finishing facility it arrived yesterday.
Let me just say that I don't want to bash Sandberg for this.

Anyway, the construction, workmanship and finishing is great.
It has Sandberg (Delano generic) P and MM PUs with Ceramic/Steel magnets.
But I don't like the sound of these PUs and even my bandmates commented last night that my passive DJ5 w. Aero single coils had more low mid punch.

Now, what I am looking for is the low mid grunt I find in all my ALNICO PU/ash/maple equipped basses.

Who makes good ALNICO 5 sring P and MM PUs?
Nordstrand? I didn't see a P5 on his website, although Nino seems to be using them in his basses.
    Who else?
  2. Bill Lawrence's P46's work in 4, 5 and 6 string basses, just installes some in a friends old crappy Washburn.

    Stunning, to say the least.

    Not sure about the MM's

I don't have any recommendations, but sorry you have to deal with this on your new bass. :meh:

    Best of luck,

I think it makes no sense modding a brand new bass...

It might turn up in the For sale section in a couple of days...:(
