Sweep "picking" on a bass?

Discussion in 'Technique [BG]' started by The_Ryst, May 17, 2005.

  1. I don't want to use a pick, and sheehan doesn't. He does it in the Live at Austoria DVD. Help please? It involved tapping

  2. when i sweep i run down (E-A-D-G) with my thumb and back up with my index finger. Its just practice man, once you get good at it you can throw in little taps and hammer on/pull offs to add to it.

    just practice! :bassist:

Use your thumb for the downstroke and index or middle for the upstroke. A lot of guitar players will use the right hand to tap a few extensions on top of the arpeggio at the end. If you sweep up to the root it's pretty easy to tap the 3rd and 5th and then go back down.
