Warwick Standard 'vette, Active, with roundwounds, and I played the same model with flats. My goodness that was a slick, greasy tone. When comparing the fretted version with other basses, it left me unimpressed, but the fretless blew me away.

This Pedulla Buzz bass with Dual-J pickups. Better sounding than any P/J pickup configuration they offer.

    Sorry I ever sold it.

  4. Well, the only fretless that I've had personal experience with was the yammie bb414f that I picked up when musicians friend was blowing them out awhile back. fretlesses don't seem to common locally, so i don't have a good point of reference, but i'm a fan

The most wonderful mwha that I experienced was with a Le Fay Remington Steel 5 with a stainless steel fingerboard.

Due to my limited experience, the Corvette standard passive sounded very good to my ears. My inotation isn't on par so I need lines :/.

    or practice...damn that practice

Pedulla Pentabuzz. Why they heck did I ever sell that bass? Oh yeah, because I couldn't play in tune (even with the lines). Doh!

    This one!

It's an Acacia custom four string fretless with EMG pickups.
So sweet that I used it as my main bass for seven years! (will be replaces with a new Benavente Vortex 6 fretless... soon...)

Zon Sonus Special 5 Fretless, all others bow before it's power and majesty...

    ;)

    ....honorable mentions:

    Pedulla Buzzes
Roscoes (yeah, ok, I'm a wee bit prejudiced, but they ARE good! :spit: ;) )

  11. My fretless 4003 honestly. I have never heard a more upright sounding fretless before in my life. Its very cool.

This might change though...i have a Jaco sig on order....i hear they are pretty sweet to play on.

F bass - amazing fretless with lots of "wood" in the tone

ZON - as Gard said, they are majestic.

ROSCOE - can you say "mwahhh???" - i have a hard time deciding between these three, but i think i am going to bug Gard to find me that special top for a Roscoe fretless 5...

Gard,..... GARD !!!!!.... ( where did he go? ) :bag: :D

I absolutely love my MIF Jazz Special with bart P/Js, but having played a fretless Ritter at NAMM in the passive mode, I must concede it's better... :crying:

Without a doubt, the best fretless I've ever heard or played is this work of art from Keith Roscoe:

    Mahogany body
    Exhibition Redwood burl/flame/quilt
    unlined Diamondwood fretboard
    Bartolini 3 band 18v system

    and yes, she's all mine!
