Switches in Place of Knobs?

    I've been thinking of replacing the volume knobs on my J-bass with simple on-off switches, as I never use any 'in between' settings. I'm just wondering if anyone has done this and what you think of the mod.

    Also, is it possible to wire in some sort of tone switch in place of the knob? Or a rotary 3 or 5 way knob?

    It would work fine, but you'd kill the resale value.

    My suggestion is that since turning up the volume knob all the way would be identical to putting a switch in its place, except for NOT messing up resale, that you continue to use the knob.

    Same for the tone knob, actually...
