Is this possible? I just got my first bass a couple months ago, and i honestly was just looking for any decent bass at a good price, without really caring about the different pick ups or types.

i ended up finding a MIM Fender Jazz for $300, practically new. i absolutely LOVE everything about the look, but now i'm thinking a Precision style pick up would be better for me.

is it worth it/ even possible to switch my configuration, if i bought a new pick guard and pick ups? and how hard would it be?

    thanks!

I wouldn't do it, it's not a drop in fit. You have to remove wood to make it go in.
Just find a mim P I'm sure you can get one for about the same $$$$$

You can get fatter sounding pickups. The DiMarzio Model J has a full low end.
