Switching of Rigs a.k.a. overhauling

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by PhatBoi5, Jun 4, 2004.

  1. heres the senario: I currently use an Aguilar 659 pre amp with a Carver pm 1400(700W a side @ 4ohms) With and SWR 2x12 with eminence speakers(800W @ 4 ohms) -well its actually blown right now and I'm also using a Hartke 2x15" with eminece (600W @ 4ohms. I have a fairly decent offer to get an old school Trace Elliot rig in very good shape consisting of the AH600 head with the 1048H(4x10") and a 1x 18". I would sell my current rig and probably make a profit. But the question is how much am I losing in power and thump and downright excellence of an Aguilar. The size of my current rig is a tad excessive sometimes but I do play on some stages where I can actually can turn up and compete with that damn Marshall half stack and mauling drummer. In summation I am looking for some feed back from anyone who has used this set up or parts of it.
