hey ppl... first post and all that,
I just got my new SWR goliath snr 6x10 cab, and after using 2 peavey 1x15 black widows for 2 years i wasnt sure what to expect... but oh my god, how good are these cabs. bottom end is as deep as the 1x15s but soooooo much tighter...
You dont see much SWR gear in the UK, cant think why..
also, have been using a line 6 bass pod pro for the last year... this is a great piece of kit...
    any thoughts..

That's a great cabinet. The last time I saw the North Mississippi All-Stars, Chris Chew was using one as his stage monitor, and I could tell it was a tremendous cab. His tone (I was right up front) out of the monitor was amazing, super crisp and clean with just enough booty. Whether that was the 6x10 or his Lakland, I don't know, but it sounded nice. Sounds like you got a great cab.

All components of the signal chain have to work well to project good tone, so the cab deserves props. I owned one, and know first hand that it's a kickin' cab.

My Goliath Sr. kicks my ass every time I use it. And other people are always amazed at the amount of SPL it will deliver. It's truly a very powerful cabinet for its size. I have to go get my teeth refilled after every gig!

Thanks for pointing that out, I had no idea! I knew I was getting close. Jeeeeezzzzzuuuusss I need a life!!! :D

On topic: I never use much of the horn on my Sr., maybe about 8 to 10:00 on the attenuator. just enough to give a little crispness.

  7. Another UK SWR 6x10er ....good man
Mine recently replaced a pair of Hartke 4.5XL cabs with ease.

What are you powering the cab with ?

Mine is being run using a SM900..Just interested as I am looking at trying the pre-amp/power amp setup.
The SM900 is often underwelming in its power output....I like it Loud...got to compete with a pair of Boogie powered guitarists !!

    Cheers

Just got one to replace a Megoliath. I like the sound of the senior much better than the Mego. I'm not sure why, but it seems like a fuller, more balanced sound. Maybe it has to do with the Mego being split into 2 4x10's?

The only caveat: It is much harder to move around then the Megoliath was. I have to lean over to drag it around, and it has no bottom mounted handles or skids on the back. Trivial things, I know, but something to think about when purchasing.

A great sounding cab all around, can't think of anything I would trade it for right now.
