SWR Henry the 8x8 or SVT 810E

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Nightclub Dwigh, Apr 6, 2003.

  1. First post, so be nice.

I'm looking to get one or the other of these cabinets. I'm looking for something punchier, but clean. I'm NOT into the vintage-esque sound. What I'm shooting for is somewhere inbetween Chris Bauermeister(Jawbreaker), Kim Coletta(Jawbox), and Mike Kennedy(Drive Like Jehu). Size and weight are not issues.

Right now, I'm using a Mesa 1516 with a GK 800RB. Both of my basses are Japanese Fenders with Badass II's and Duncan 1/4 Pound Basslines. The Mesa goes toward this thing, whenever I decide.

    Thanks, y'all

if you dont want a vintage sound the SVT is not for you.

im not a big fan of SWR personally, but i think the henry would be better for you deep, punchy and clean. you also might want to look into their 610 or 810 if you like SWR stuff.

the ampeg is a sealed cab, and so that gives it that vintage tone, along with the drivers used of course.

this is all in my humble opinion and experience, i could proven wrong by wiser members later.
