I have a SWR Grand Prix preamp which I love the tone of, but it's recently been producing a bit of noise. It sounds like a hiss or even like there's air coming through the horn on my cab. That's the best way I can describe it. I run it through a QSC RMX 1450 and a Bergantino HT322. I've isolated the noise to the preamp. I live in an area where there aren't many people qualified for this kind of work (don't trust GC). Do you think I have a bad tube? Or what might be causing this? Thanks,

    Dave

  2. The preamp tube can be replaced by you, and does not require an electrical adjustment afterward.

That's the first thing to try.

I had a Grand Prix myself and it's really easy to change. Just open up the top, pull the old one out, and pop in the new one. Very easy.

It would help if you got a tube that was tested to be low noise.
