well it looks like this will be my new amp. :D
what are your thoughts / opinions / comments on it????????

i considered the Super Redhead, but i didnt have $1500 and i have $1000 with money left over to spare. i like the 12's a lot. one of the only things i dont like about it, is the direct out, tuner out, etc. are one the front panel.

I tried out the Silverado when I got my Redhead, and I think that it is a really good combo. I also preferred the fact that more of the outs are on the rear panel on the redhead. As far as sound, I like 10s better than 12s, but if you like 12s then more power, cause the Silverado is cheaper. Same amount of power though, so you can bust it up. But I found it has that distinctive SWR tone, that I really like. But choose what you will, cause it is what you will (have to) play.

  3. I find that the Silverado Special is actually louder then the Super Redhead.

Yeah, me too. That is the one reason that I like the Eden Metro over the Super Redhead, the Metro is louder.

The Silverado may be louder than the Eden, I never A/B'd those 2, but I don't like the sound of the 12's.

Good amp, though, and cheaper than the Redhead.

i dig it alot. i like it better than the redhead. i know that's a bold statement, but i stand by it. less sterile to my ears - really warm, but still has definition. then you can plug in any extension cab and kick it hard...

outs on the front panel might be slightly annoying, but oh well, y'know?

Great combo. I talked to SWR before I bought mine, and the feeling was that you can use the Silverado as a stand alone cab more readily than the Redhead, which for live playing really needs an extension cab. I use a Son of Bertha as an extension cab most of the time with my Silverado, but I wouldn't feel like I was compromising too much by taking just the Silverado alone to a gig. Warm and plenty loud, and the price seems to have come down recently. Musicians' Friend has it now for $999, which is a great price. At 98 lbs. or so it's a load, and it tends to tip back a bit when carried by two people (don't know if all combos have a tendency to do this or not as this is the only combo I've ever owned), but if you want that SWR tone, go for it. You won't regret it.

im just so glad my confusion is over. i have solved my amp problem, am getting a sweet amp, getting a sweet deal, and i have money left over!

my dad and i are going to go pick it up at the Musicians Friend warehouse in KC. we live like 3 hours away so it would be cheaper to drive down and get it then to ship. plus, i dont have to wait by the curb til the ups man shows up, and i have the satisfaction that the ups man never had it bouncing around in his truck, or worse yet .... he could have taken it out and was joy-playing with my amp  ...............:D

this is gonna work out pretty swell too cuz my friend is gonna buy his new drum set through MF so he can come along and ditch the shipping costs. i cant wait to see how the drum set, the amp, my dad, my friend, me, and possibly a few others are going to fit in the car.

Congratulations. You'll really love the combo. Give us a report. And by the way, make the drummer friend bring snacks. And pay for gas. He's the DRUMMER, dammit!

    oh well .......

i cant wait. my amp that i have now is as good as sold. the kid that im selling it to has been playing out of a peavey microbass for almost 5 years! he always just used our churches amp or the schools. this is a little bit of an upgrade for him.

I think if I ever got rid of my current set up, eden pre/mackie pwr w/ one 4x10. Then I would get me a silverado and use it with a 4x10 extention cab. Plenty of volume. I really like the tone of the 12's. Its not the true "clean" SWR sound, but, thats what the extention cab would be for. It would only be more perfect if I could blend the cabs any way I wanted.

Its shipping from Utah because thats where Musicians friend is..

i emailed MF, i talked to two different people, and none of them know when the sale is ending. all of them told me my guess was as good as theirs.
