SWR SRH question

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by chalie, Feb 8, 2006.

  1. I would like to drive my bass guitar via external preamp (other maker) into the effect return of my SWR SRH combo (SWR internal poweramp) but I wonder if I would get good sounding as I would from stand alone poweramp.
    Thanks

It will probably still sound good, but with a different overall tone depending on the preamp you choose. What other preamps are you looking at? I played a Super Redhead that was driven by an SWR IOD, and it sounded great.

  3. Jason,
I tried IOD myself but not on my SRH and I agreed that it provide more headroom but it still has the similar tone to SRH so I thought of getting something different especially more R&B kind preamp. I still not decided which one to get.

I once tried to drive it by a mic tube preamp together with Sanamp BO DI but it sounded so bad which worried me whether it could be better with other make bass preamps.

Have you tried different preamp as well.

How about the Aguilar DB 924?

No, the IOD is the only one I played through a Super Redhead.
