SWR WM12 combo to Ampeg VR micro

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Whit Townsend, Feb 23, 2014.

  1. with one of the Micro 2-10 cabs.
    Is this a significant improvement?
    100w combo rear ported 12" to 200w & 2 sealed 10"s?
The SWR almost cuts the mustard, esp w/an extension cab, but not quite.
Like the idea of this but afraid it won't be a big enough improvement to justify the investment.
Dont play in a stupid loud band but I need a bit more.
I play Upright 60% and NS Guild Starfire or Pbass 40%.

It's not significant in terms of volume levels. But it is in sound quality... if the SVT sound is your thing.

Another thing is the Micro VR is 150 watts with the single cabinet or at 8 ohms, 200 with 2 cabs.
  3. I love the SVT/8-10 sound for sure, but I need vol more than anything.
Forgot I need 2 cabs for the full power. Will prob go another route. PF 500/2-10 fliptop perhaps.
