I know there is an SX super thread, but I'm feeling lazy. :) I just want to know how good are those SX B strings? I want a dirt cheap fretless and SX has some as low as $119. I don't expect a great bass for that price, but is the B string playable, or would it be better to get an SX fretless four?

Definitely playable .......... after a proper set-up and probably a new set of strings (although someone said the newer series has better stock strings??). String spacing is a bit tight, though :(

I like it tight! :D Seriously, I play an SR5, tight spacing won't bother too much as long as it's not ridiculous.

Yeah, it's pretty close like the SR5, IIRC it's about 16mm ...... I'm sure there will be a bunch of the SX guys jumping in here shortly with some more details than I can give you ;)

I have played several, but only at Rondo's shop, never in a gigging situation. Decent fretless sound ........

i've been pondering buying a SX 5'er as well and was wondering about the B string too. in the megathread i did see a few references to it being floppy, but i'm not sure on which models and if they had a proper setup.
