    Hey !

Just wanted some opinions on them, I just got all the albums together, and listened to them, and I like them pretty much. Although they are heavier then Dream Theater, they´re not too heavy, in my opinion.

How do you like the bass player ? I believe he´s a genius.

For everybody else: Symphony X are on Audiogalaxy (www.audiogalaxy.com), they are a "Featured Band".

I think it's a pity that guys with so much talent writes such boring music. They have a couple of songs here and there which I like (I lost count of the times I listened to "Through the looking glass" this summer), but overall, their albums don't do it for me. The drummer boy REALLY is too fond of the double-kick style drumming.

And they're not heavier than "Lie". ;)

Well, I think that they are more concentrated on different things.
While Dream Theater is more mordern, Symphony X are a bit more old-school like.

I also feel that most Dream Theater Songs have some kind of mechanical thing to it that makes me dislike them.

Funny, that's exactly what I hear in Symphony X.

As talented as SymX is, I don't care for them any more. Like DT, they can't really do anything different. The first 2 releases by both bands are my faves.

    Acacia:

Well, I can understand that opinion, although I believe that "The Devine Wings Of Tragedy" is the best Symphony X Album, and "Scenes From A Memory" is the best Dream Theater album (that´s just my .02).

I like them both - but to me, Symphony X simply feel more "alive" when compared to DT.
But I always think that this is just a matter of feeling, anybody likes something else.
To make it clear, I believe that DT are just more "modern" sounding then SymX, how have some kind of a "traditional" feeling to them (at least to me).

Anyway, Oysterman, maybe check out "Candlelight Fantasia" from The Devine Wings of Tragedy, I like that one pretty much, as I like The Accolade (from the same album), too.

Acacia, what do you mean when you say that they can both just do one thing? I mean listen to WDADU and then do SFAM, thats pretty much of a difference (IMHO).
But do they do it right ?

True, WDADU is totally different than the stuff they are doing now. But pretty much everything they have done since that one, to me, has been interchangeable.
