I know that they're not exactly popular and are a little too hard for some listeners, but I have grown to really like their simple grinding riffs and their somewhat blues based shuffles. I also am drawn towards their bassist's simple lines, especially the one on "Spiders." And I've read that their new album is going to be phenemenal. I like them, and would like to see if anyone shares my opinions.

S O A D are a really good band, and those guys are really creative with their music. Does anyone know the name of their new song???

  6. Uh, dont you mean Armenian?

I can't wait for the new one either. I had the first cd, but it got stolen. Thats the only cd I've ever had stolen from me, and I loved that cd too.

there is something about them that has always kind of appealed to me for whatever reason. I will usually be the first one to say "this sucks" in response to a drop d and down 98.3 step metal band with screaming and such and such, but system is better than that for whatever reason and i always have a difficult time putting my finger on what that is. I like them though, they get me pumped up when i'm riding my bike, i can bunnyhop 2 and a half feet with SOAD in my eardrums.

The singer is Lebanese, born in Beirut, and the other three are Armenian. Both ethnic backgrounds are arabic. My girlfriend is Lebanese and SOAD was what I used to introduce her to all the music I listen too. :p

I don't usually get into the heavier music, but for some reason I fell in love with their album.

  12. System are one of the most influential bands in metal just now . Just listen to the ****, bands like Linken park or Papa Roach are doing right now . There just copying System baldly , with that fast diminished sound . another thing that no one has really mentioned is what system stand for , with songs about mass genocide and really disturbing domestic socialism they are definitely prophets of the 21st century

  13. Yeah...S.O.A.D are great!!!

  14. Stay tuned for my new band, which is sort of the same style of music :)

  15. System Of A Down are a great band. Shavo is a legend.

  17. System of a Down kicks ass because they are "good new metal" not "**** metal" like most new bands. I mean they can use different keys instead of just wailing on low A or C. The guitarist is capable of playing solos :)o, song #7) and uses pick harmonics too. Shavo is smart because even tho he detunes his four string, he has a 35" neck on it (Again the Ibanez BTB series....hmmm). And they also incorperate keyboards too. <cue getting off soap box>

Definitely one of my favorite bands! They are very creative, and even though they drop down so far they are pretty musical. Singers got a great voice, guitar player (i can't even remember my friends names let alone band members) doesn't just chug, in fact he stays away from those lows more than you'd think. And great song topics.

Has anyone heard marmalade?? I don't know what it is from, but Its a cool little song.
