So, The first piece of basswood has been cut to shape the body of my tele bass project.

Suspected stats (since they'll probably change as I go)

    -Slab basswood Tele body
-Reverse headstock maple Precision neck w/Rosewood fretboard
-Split precision pickup in neck position and "double-j style" in bridge position
-Haven't decided on what type of high-mass bridge yet
    -Basic lightweight tuners

I'll keep up on the process as much as I can.

Good luck. Nothing a build that meets your own specs.

So, as I assumed, I've altered my setup a bit.

Going for a single passive MM p/u, and a beefed up generic fender jazz style bridge.

Single volume pot, no tone control. Form and function FTW!

Ordered the pickup, bridge, and lefty tuners today.

This is in no way a high-end build. More of just a low-fi, but high-fun, rock-out bass.

    I'll keep you posted.

FINALLY got my MM style p/u in. It's a cheapy, but this is my first build, so I'm still excited.

    Cutting the body this weekend.

How do you guys feel about cutting a record to shape for my pickguard? I've seen some pretty cool examples posted on here.

I lied about cutting the body. Stuff happens, but here's the scheme...

The p/u will definitely be further from the bridge than in the picture. It was just thrown on there for s&g

    Updates!

I'll have some comfort bevels/cuts put in the front and back, as I keep my instrument strapped up fairly high and don't feel like resting my arm on a simple routed edge....same goes for my gut.

The build is being completed by my guitarist, so I can't take credit. He had the idea for the recessed neck plate and threaded inserts. Pretty neat!

Still sampling different finishes, so who knows how it'll end up!!!

Already uploaded to a "NBD" thread, but figured I should update this one as well.

Its still not done. The frets still need leveling, and the string choice I used was wayyyyyy off from what I was hoping for. Still, its pretty sweet lookin'
