Hey, I've come to bass from classical piano, so while I can read music well, I don't understand all the codes in tab. Little help?

The horizontal lines represent the strings, from low to high (bottom to top on the tab). The numbers are the frets, e.g. 5 means 5th fret. X means a deadnote or ghostnote, the rest is like standard notation mostly.

Most songbooks have a legend where all this is explained more thoroughly.
