Ok now this one's for sure to be in the "oddball/ what the...???" department. Years ago in the 80's, a friend of mine had this bass in high school. He was an amazing player and I always admired this bass. Recently in finding him, he asked if I would like to give it a new home versus it sitting in his closet at home. I immediately jumped at the opp indeed. Wow, what memories for me. It was in nasty condition when I got it. Green frets and all. I have buffed them out the best I can and reversed the string nut since I am a lefty. Wow again!!!! It plays beautifully even without a properly set string nut!!!! After some more soldering and tweaking, it may become one of my most played 4 strings although sonically, my L2000 lefty is a monster. According to Takamine (whom were very surprised to hear about this bass), it is a GB410 "Arrow style" bass from 1984 or 1985. Other specs are: solid mahogany neck-through, red binding, 2-EMG P-pkups (odd but cool), obviously experimental bridge (horrendous adjustments in saddles), recessed controls (also odd) and rosewood fingerboard. Thought it might be an interesting rarebird to post. I'm glad it's made a home with me now. -Vinnie
oooooooh! The neck joint area kinda reminds me of a viola bass for some reason. I like the flying V sort of look to it, also. The thing looks like some sort of old BC rich reject or something...I dig!
For some reason it reminds me of a cross betwwen a Gibson "Voodoo Series" ( Ick!) and a Beatle Bass... However i Do like it! (then again, i rather like the Samick "Tabu" as well) SAMICK TABU actually Samick makes a black&red one too (although im not very fond of it) Samick "COBRA"
