I have a couple of questions about taking off frets. First off, how do you do it? I am not quite sure what the best way is without damaging the bass. Second, does it work? Does it really make it sound like a fretless? Help me out. Thanks.

Back in '89 I took the frets out of my Kramer Pioneer series bass. I can't actually remember how I removed them. The big mistake was not filling the fret slots properly. I epoxied the neck but after time the neck warped. I replaced the neck a couple of years ago when I picked up the bass again. It does a fine job but I need to get a better fretless down the road.
