SWR SM400 through Eden D410XSTs, although my Mesa D800+ sounds fantastic. With the Mesa it was harder to dial in my sound but the controls provide a lot of flexibility so I found it.

The most impressive bass amp I’ve ever played through was an AMP BH420, better known today as a Thunderfunk. It’s really something special.

Ampeg SVT with 8x10's behind and two big stage monitors (just for me and my mix...woohoo!) in front on big outdoor stages. Hard to not be inspired in that environment.

I remember when I was kid in the 60's my Brother's bass player had a Fender Jazz bass and Fender Showman Bass amp. I remembered that amp had the head screwed down to the bass cab and you could tilt it back like Twin Reverb. It sound pretty good from what remember. It either had a JBL or Altec 15 in it. I would love to find a pre CBS Showman just to have and maybe hot rod it! :)

My PF-50T through a pair of Warwick cabs (not mine).
A close alternative was a cranked SVT-3 Pro through a Fridge, house amp.

  12. The best amp is in my avatar. The best rig however started with a 1974 Rick 4001 in ric-o-sound, the neck pickup fed into an SVT powering an ampeg 4-4B 2-15 reflex cab. The bridge pickup was fed into a Hiwatt Custom 100 powering a Hiwatt 4-12 cab. Ah yes, the 70’s. Just turn it up loud and rock on! And we sure as sh*t did!

My Hartke 410XL and 115XL cabs until I got the new Hartke Hydrive HD210 and HD112. These XL cabs with the GK 400RB, Hartke HA-3500, and Carvin BX1500 head sound really nice. I think the Carvin BX1500 with the new HD cabs is the best match/sounding so far. The GK 400RB was better the XL's.

SVT 4 Pro with 6X10. Awesome sounding, but a BEAST to lug around.

I consider this my flagship rig as well as the best sounding one I've ever used. 20190917_135341.jpg And the cab isn't all that tough to schlepp around either!:)

Just curious as to how heavy that cab was? Cause I see battle wounds on the side.

For me it would be my Hartke KB15 that I used to own. My first gig with it was at a big outdoor festival, I did not have a monitor on stage, but the rest of the band did. I could actually feel the bass coming out of the combo. I was in bass heaven, but the honeymoon period ended the very next gig when the speaker developed a horrible rattle. I pulled the speaker out and changed it with an eminence 15. It still sounded great, but didn't have the same magic as the OEM speaker. When examining the OEM speaker it looked and felt like the cheapest speaker I've ever seen.

  20. I always loved playing through a Mark Bass 2x10” combo at a church I used to play bass at. Punchy and it tilted, which was very cool.

I plugged into a SVT-3/8x10” stack once but it was so brief that I honestly can’t remember it at all.
