Here's a great interview with The Groovemaster, Jerry Jemmott. I'm a huge fan of Jerry's work and I loved this article. I hope you guys enjoy it. Talkin' Blues with the Groovemaster, Jerry Jemmott
Thanks for posting the link. Great read. Jerry is what playing the bass is all about. I'm sure most members have no idea who he is. Big influence on me.
I agree with you, man. He's definitely worth studying extensively. Jaco thought so, right? Didn't hurt his playing a bit. Ha!
He lives in this area. Held a small clinic recently and it was great information from a playing and a "behind the music standpoint." Super nice dude.
Let's revive this thread with a new article I just found (and yes, I am a Jerry Jemmott junkie). Stories behind the songs - Jerry Jemmott
Jerry's work on B.B. King's 1969 "Live and Well" album just blew me away. I had probably heard him on other tracks before that but didn't know who was laying it down. Kind of like Jamerson at Motown. Didn't know until years later who was behind all that great playing. I've always loved the role of the bass in music, but Jerry was one of the main reasons I started playing it.
Has anyone else gotten this warning re: All About Jazz, and should it be taken seriously: http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=http://www.allaboutjazz.com/&hl=en I used to visit the site fairly frequently.
