    Beg / Intermediate bassist here....

Anyone see the Hall of Fame....VH1?

Did "Burning Down the House" sound a little off?

Can anyone tell me why? Did the drummer just stink?

I thought the next song was groovin.... Great bass line... the "This ain't no party.. this ain't no disco song"

how many years haven't they played as a group?

sometimes skills can fade away when they are not togheter for that long time...

    i liked it.

That I understand... I was looking for someone to explain to me musically why it sounded off to my untrained ear....

Was the tempo changing..... Was the bass line pushing or getting dragged... Or am I completely off and the song is supposed to push and pull a bit....

As a beginer, I'm just looking to analyze other bass players and bands....

    Thanks again...

I think it's called not being "tight".

Then again, if we don't play together for two weeks my band sounds the same way.

All things considered, they did a good job. Better than GreeDay!!!

I think that was the first time they've played together in about ten years.

According to the New York Times, the rest of the band hates Mr. Byrne.

    Dec 12, 1999 opinion?

The Top-40/R&B band I was in during the mid-'80s played those tunes 'better' than what I heard the other night.
At least, that's how I remember it... ;)
(I do actually remember "Burning Down The House" as a vehicle for me to practice whilst on the bandstand! Definitely an endurance builder).
